Principle : Pharyngeal sensitivity is a physiological parameter altered in patients suffering from sleep apnea syndrome. Pharyngeal sensitivity examination is performed using a simple and painless device, via which it is possible to monitor the patient reaction to a stimulus applied to the pharyngeal mucous membrane. SensiTest® comprises a portable air supply source, a single-use oral stimulation device delivering a variable air flow to the soft palate, and a pushbutton to detect the patient response to the perceived stimulus. Sensitivity measurements are recorded twice, first under standard conditions, and then following administration of a light local anaesthetic to the pharyngeal mucous membrane in order to increase the accuracy of the examination. A preset programme provides variable air pressures, saves and analyses in real time your patient’s responses on a Pc.
